Customer success manager job postings in the US state a median base salary of $97,000 a year, after correcting for which states disclose pay. The figure comes from the 1,534 postings that stated pay, out of 3,416 collected between January 1 and August 31, 2026, a disclosure rate of 44.9 percent.

Half of those postings sit between $75,000 and $128,200, and every figure is base pay as the employer wrote it, with bonus, commission and equity left out. The posted title moves the number a long way: postings titled customer success manager have a median of $100,000, while specialist, associate and representative titles sit between $61,630 and $70,100. Posted base pay is 8.5 percent lower than in the same window of 2025.

How much does a customer success manager make?

A customer success manager makes a median of $97,000 a year in base pay, based on US job postings collected January 1 to August 31, 2026. That works out to $46.63 an hour, $1,865 a week or $8,083 a month. The hourly figure is the annual median divided by 2,080 working hours, a conversion that does not come from hourly rates in the postings. The middle half of postings pays $75,000 to $128,200 a year, or $36.06 to $61.63 an hour.

Measure Annual Hourly equivalent Monthly equivalent
25th percentile $75,000 $36.06 $6,250
Median $97,000 $46.63 $8,083
75th percentile $128,200 $61.63 $10,683

Coverage-adjusted base pay, 1,534 US postings that stated pay, collected January 1 to August 31, 2026. Hourly is annual divided by 2,080; monthly is annual divided by 12.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics publishes no wage for customer success managers, because the job has no occupation code of its own in the Standard Occupational Classification, so this page shows no BLS comparison.

The figures: a $97,000 median that coverage adjustment leaves in place

As posted is what the 1,534 disclosing postings say. Coverage-adjusted re-weights them so each state counts in proportion to all 3,416 collected postings, including the ones that gave no pay. For this role the correction leaves the 25th percentile and the median where they were and trims the 75th percentile by $800, to $128,200.

Measure As posted Coverage-adjusted
25th percentile $75,000 $75,000
Median $97,000 $97,000
75th percentile $129,000 $128,200

Base pay, annualized, 1,534 US postings that stated pay, collected January 1 to August 31, 2026.

California postings pay the most, at a $120,000 median

Nine states have at least 30 customer success manager postings that stated pay. The table lists them by the number of those postings.

State Postings with pay Median Middle half (p25 to p75)
New York 204 $100,000 $80,000 to $130,000
California 179 $120,000 $86,500 to $150,000
Texas 88 $105,360 $82,500 to $131,500
Illinois 87 $100,000 $77,500 to $129,500
Colorado 81 $90,000 $75,600 to $104,000
Massachusetts 49 $92,500 $77,500 to $117,831
Georgia 48 $100,000 $75,600 to $130,000
Florida 35 $95,000 $72,000 to $120,000
North Carolina 35 $90,000 $75,000 to $116,000

Base pay, postings collected January 1 to August 31, 2026, states with at least 30 postings that stated pay.

California's $120,000 median is the highest of the nine, $30,000 above Colorado and North Carolina, which share the lowest at $90,000. In round thousands, California's median is $120K against $97K across all US postings. Texas comes second at $105,360, although only 88 of its 323 postings stated pay. Another 396 postings with pay did not identify a state; they count toward the national figures and stay out of this table.

44.9% of customer success manager postings state pay

1,534 of the 3,416 collected postings carried a usable annual figure. 1,881 gave no pay at all, and one carried a figure the method could not use. So the figures on this page describe a little under half of the advertised market.

Where the job is posted changes the odds of seeing a number. Among the nine states in the table, disclosure for this role ranges from 67.5 percent of postings in Colorado to 27.2 percent in Texas. Across all roles, the thirteen states with pay-transparency laws disclose 53.9 percent of postings against 33.8 percent elsewhere and pay about 10 percent more, which is why the national figures are re-weighted by state.

When a posting gives no figure at all, what a DOE listing actually means covers the phrasings employers use instead of a number.

Posted pay is down 8.5% from a year ago

In the same January to early September window of 2025, customer success manager postings stated a median base of $106,050 across 4,206 postings with pay. The 2026 median is $97,000 across 1,534, a fall of 8.5 percent on the same titles and the same method. A decline of that size is what puts the role in the saturated band of PayScope's market label.

Posting counts are not compared across years on this page, because they depend on how much the collector gathered in each period. The data also cannot say whether the drop comes from lower pay for the same jobs or from a change in which levels and titles were posting.

Pay by level: the big step comes at Senior, at $117,500

The ladder below is built on the 414 postings that state a level. The other 1,120 usable postings, 73 percent of the sample, state none, so the headline figure on this page mostly describes them; their median is $92,300, 4.8 percent below the role median.

Level Postings with pay 25th percentile Median 75th percentile Years in role
Entry 51 $64,958 $70,700 $81,500 1 to 3 years
Mid 35 $54,950 $77,902 $98,310 Not stated
Senior 288 $97,000 $117,500 $143,500 5 to 7 years
Lead 40 $120,000 $140,000 $185,000 5 to 10 years

Base pay, postings that stated pay and a level, collected January 1 to August 31, 2026.

Mid rests on 35 postings and overlaps Entry

Mid is built on 35 postings, just over the 30-posting floor for a published median. Its middle half runs from $54,950 to $98,310 and contains the whole Entry middle half of $64,958 to $81,500, so the $7,202 gap between the Entry and Mid medians is weak evidence of a real step. The step that holds up is the next one: the Senior median of $117,500 is $39,598 above Mid and rests on 288 postings. Senior and Lead postings ask for overlapping experience, 5 to 7 years against 5 to 10.

Specialist, associate and representative titles pay $61,630 to $70,100

The title on the posting moves pay about as much as the level does. Postings titled customer success manager have a median of $100,000 on 1,276 postings with pay, while the other three titles in the same family sit $29,900 to $38,370 lower.

Posted title Postings with pay 25th percentile Median 75th percentile
Customer success manager 1,276 $80,000 $100,000 $128,200
Customer success representative 34 $58,500 $70,100 $95,000
Customer success associate 55 $50,000 $65,500 $80,000
Customer success specialist 98 $50,000 $61,630 $75,000

Base pay as posted, US postings collected January 1 to August 31, 2026. The 71 postings titled simply customer success have the same $130,000 at the 25th percentile, the median and the 75th percentile, so the title shows no spread and is left out of this table.

What a customer success manager does

A customer success manager looks after a company's existing customers once the sale is closed. Day to day, that means onboarding new accounts, helping customers adopt what they bought, holding account reviews, spotting accounts at risk of leaving and handling renewals.

BLS has no employment projection for customer success managers, for the same reason it has no wage: the job has no occupation code of its own.

The table gives PayScope medians for neighboring roles, with the dataset each one comes from.

How these figures were produced

The source is PayScope's collection of US job postings from January 1 to August 31, 2026, deduplicated by posting id. 3,416 postings matched the role and 1,534 stated a usable annual base pay; 1,881 stated none and one carried a figure that could not be used. The five matched titles are customer success manager, customer success specialist, customer success representative, customer success associate and customer success.

Coverage adjustment re-weights each state to its share of all collected postings, and for this role it leaves the median at $97,000 and moves the 75th percentile from $129,000 to $128,200. Every figure is base pay as posted, with bonus, commission, on-target earnings, equity and overtime excluded, and the page makes no estimate of variable pay. The figures are dated August 31, 2026, the last fully collected month; the collection query ran to September 8, 2026, but the latest customer success manager posting in the sample is dated August 31. The figures are regenerated monthly.
